πŸ”₯ Denver wins the national championship

The Pioneers win the 10th national title in program history behind a 35-save shutout from goalie Matt Davis.

Two quick second period goals was all the offense Davis and the Pioneers needed, as he made impressive save after impressive save to keep the talent-laden Boston College offense quiet.

Jared Wright scored the first goal of the game around the midway point of the second period, then Rieger Lorenz followed with a brilliant goal of his own just 5:34 seconds later.

The highlight of the game came on a brilliant save by Davis to rob BC's Ryan Leonard of a seemingly wide-open net.

This is Denver's second national championship in the last three years.

πŸ’ END 2: Denver leads by two

Denver hockey celebrates after scoring in the national championship

After 40 minutes, No. 3 Denver skates into the locker rooms with a 2-0 lead over Boston College in the national championship.

The nation's top offense struck twice in the second period. First, it was a puck luck goal from Jared Wright, before Rieger Lorenz followed with a snipe into the back of the net. After not surrendering a goal for more than 110 minutes this tournament, Boston College goalie Jacob Fowler gave up two in just over five minutes.

Boston College's potent offense has been uncharacteristically quiet through two periods, with just 12 shots on net so far.

On an unreal feed from Zeev Buium, Rieger Lorenz goes high blocker to beat Jacob Fowler and double Denver's lead.

This isn't the first time this tournament Boston College has trailed by multiple goals. Quinnipiac opened up a 2-0 lead on the Eagles in the second round, but Boston College scored five of the next seven goals to advance.

🚨 Denver strikes first! 1-0 Pioneers

πŸ’ END 1: Still scoreless in St. Paul

A defensive-oriented 20 minutes ends with just 13 combined shots and zero goals from the top-two scoring offenses in America.

Jacob Fowler saved all eight shots he faced for Boston College, and Denver's Matt Davis stopped all five shots he saw, including a big save on a breakaway.

Neither team committed a penalty in the opening 20 minutes.

🚨 Two quick goals! 3-0 Boston College

Make it 25 goals on the year for Boston College's Will Smith. The Lexington, Mass. native skated a lap around Michigan's zone before flicking one into the blue paint, where it hit a skate and squeezed through Michigan goalie Jake Barczewski to make it 2-0.

Then, just 49 seconds later, Cutter Gauthier took advantage of a Michigan miscue and snapped one into the back of the net on a breakaway to make it a 3-0 game.

Both of these goals came at 4-on-4 after one player on each team was called for a tripping penalty.
