NCAA DI women’s volleyball committee to reveal in-season top 16 on Sunday, Oct. 20

Match point: Ace closes out Texas volleyball's 2023 NCAA championship

The NCAA Division I women’s volleyball committee will reveal its in-season top 16 on Sunday, Oct. 20 during the Pittsburgh vs. Stanford match. The match airs at 3 p.m. ET on ESPN.

This is the first time the in-season rankings will have 16 teams. In past years, the committee revealed its top 10. The in-season reveal shows fans which teams could earn seeds when the tournament bracket is officially announced at 6 p.m. ET on Sunday, Dec. 1 on ESPN.

The 2024 DI women's volleyball championship final rounds will be held on Dec. 19 and 22 at the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, Kentucky. The first semifinal match is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. ET on Thursday, Dec. 19 on ESPN. The second semifinal match will follow 30 minutes after the first match concludes, also on ESPN. The national championship match will then be played at 3 p.m. ET on Sunday, Dec. 22 on ABC.

The reveal is based on the criteria used to select and seed the 64 teams for the volleyball championship. It includes strength of schedule, Rating Percentage Index, head-to-head competition, results versus common opponents, significant wins and losses and locations of contests. Input is also provided by the regional advisory committees for consideration by the Division I women’s volleyball committee.
